Good Solid Fun (and a Challenge)

Quilt club members shared some good solid fun at the August meeting with our second snip and rip activity. This year, instead of batiks, we used solids. Every person came with one yard of one color; after snipping, ripping, dropping and passing, we left with 7 different colors!  Now comes the challenge — make a wearable (very loosely defined) to display at our November meeting. Wellspring Quilt Project

What began as fabric bingo cards for our April activity has turned into the most beautiful works of art — and heart! Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, 21 adults who attend Wellspring Community will receive quilts on November 1 at the ribbon cutting ceremony for Unity on Park, a supported independent living apartment complex. Improv Christmas Tree Blocks

Capturing Quilts in the Wild

Earlier this year, the programs committee asked members for photos of their quilts “in the wild.” So whether on vacation or staycation, you photographed your beauties outdoors. The results — viewed in the August meeting slide show while Nat King Cole sang about “Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer” — were simply inspiring.  Thank you to ALL who participated!
