Disappearing Four Patch

Our block  for June is the disappearing four patch.

We will use two white 5” squares and two matching 5” squares that are blue/white/red or some combo of the those. No other colors, please. Two things – make sure your seams are 1/4” and make sure you are pressing nicely to the dark side and nesting those seams. The finished block needs to be 8.5”.

Here is how the swap works:

We are asking you to make blocks in groups of 10. Put your blocks in a gallon plastic baggie that has your name and number of blocks written on it. Traditionally, swappers also include a nice piece of fabric as a gift to the swap momma for her efforts in making sure everyone gets a variety of differing blocks in return for their own.

Swap momma will take the bags in June and do the swapping, returning them in July at the park. Note: If you want the blocks signed as in a friendship style quilt, it is up to YOU to bring a micron pen or some other fabric safe marker. How you arrange your blocks is up to you. You can even use them as the center of star blocks. Add borders. Or not. Make it your own unique creation. But be sure to label it because this will indeed be a precious creation.

A word about these paper instructions — because we are using two matching colored squares, there is no variation between A and B. They will be the same.
