DESCRIPTION:Get ready for some hilarious fun in April as we come together for a few games of Strip Poker! April Fool’s! \nIt’s QUILTER’S Strip Poker\, played (fully clothed) with jelly roll strips — those 2 1/2 inch WOF (width of fabric) pieces so popular in quilt making. Members\, please bring 15 accurately cut strips to play. We’ll use five per game. If you are feeling generous\, cut another 5 and bundle with a rubber band for a visitor (or someone who just plain forgets theirs.) NOTE: this is a great way to use up left over pieces from jelly rolls you’ve used in past quilting projects. \nWe’ll set up in tables of eight; use Left\, Right\, Center dice and a large screen for simple rules of play; and cheer when someone rakes in the bounty during each round. Tables who finish early will have some quilt chat questions to help us get to know each other better! \n

DESCRIPTION:Have yourself a wonky little Christmas; may your blocks be bright! We celebrated Christmas in July with the introduction of improv Christmas tree block lotto! Using the tutorial by Amy Smart at diaryofaquilter.com/modern-christmas-tree-quilt-block/ you can make as many improv Christmas trees as your heart desires. Each one earns you an entry into our first ever block lotto\, which will be held at our October 1st meeting. If your name is drawn\, you win enough blocks for a small quilt/wall hanging (or perhaps a large one if you sew blocks for yourself as you create blocks for the lotto). If we have 40 or more entries\, we will have more than one winner. Please adhere to the color scheme listed so that we can mix and match\, and please use quilt store quality modern fabric. This is a great leaders and enders project — cut a bunch and sew a few here and there from now until October! \nWant to participate? Here are the written instructions with photos for our block lotto. Note the unfinished size of the blocks should be roughly 7.5″ X 9.5″. \nVideo instructions can be found here. Note our colors are different from the video. We are using Christmas red\, Christmas green\, lime green\, aqua\, pink and white. \nALSO IN OCTOBER: Holly jolly members of our club will present demonstrations of how to make their go-to Christmas gifts for everyone on your nice lists. Each attendee that evening will receive a folder with detailed instructions. Additionally\, each presenter will draw a name to receive their finished go-to gift.

DESCRIPTION:Our very own Carolyn McCormick will share intriguing stories about “The Women Who Shaped Quilt History” at our September 3rd meeting at New Hope Presbyterian Church. One such woman was Marie D. Webster\, the author of “Quilts: Their Story and How to Make Them.”  Remarkably\, it was published in 1915! Besides a fascinating lecture\, Carolyn brings us her own trunk show of quilts\, some of which are inspired by the women she esteems. \nDuring our Show and Tell\, we get to admire all of the Douglas County Fair 2024 Quilt Show entries and winners. The important legacy rooted in such fascinating history continues right here at CRQC!
