So here’s your reminder to come…and here’s your reason: You’ll meet all of the current and new officers for the 2023-2024 year. Put names with faces. Know who to call for what. Celebrate the beginning of another year packed with learning\, sewing and other fun. To make the night even more special\, we are having a BATIK EXCHANGE & CHALLENGE! \nYour task: bring one yard of batik fabric (be sure you love it as you will end up with some yourself) & a pair of scissors or snips \nOur exchange: we will be snipping\, ripping\, dropping and passing so that everyone still ends up with a yard — but of SEVEN different fabrics!The challenge: you’ll have two months to create something — anything — with these fabric to be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize. Need ideas? We’ve got you covered from A-Z. \nThe prize: a handmade batik basket\, filled to the brim with surprises — see it displayed at the August meeting! \n(Note: There will be a sale basket with a very limited number of batik yardages for guests or those who forget. Marilyn was the winner of last year’s panel challenge with her puzzle quilt and she is going to share her method with us. DESCRIPTION:Setting up for the auction\nCRQC is having a silent auction the club is having in place of our May meeting. So lets get to work and clean up / out our sewing rooms of unwanted items. We will have tables set up with numbers and names of what goes on that particular table. We are looking at Patterns\, Kits\, Fabric\, Quilts\, Notions\, Thread\, Books.. and we will have a miscellaneous table for things that don’t fit in above categories. If you are planning on bringing any larger items that won’t fit on a table please let me know. Please put things in bundles (ex: multiple notions\, books\, patterns\, fabric etc). We will have numbered Bid sheets for you for which you will need to fill out prior to placing on auction table. You will tape or pin bid sheets to your items. You must put a starting bid on the sheet and then the dollar amount increments. There will be NO coin increments. \nYou may enter church at 5 pm and start the process. Auction will start at 6 pm and will close at 7 pm. There will be someone calling out when a particular table has closed and it will be in 5-minute increments starting at 7 pm. Once a table has closed you may pick up the items you have obtained with the highest bid. Please wait for all tables to close and bring all of your bid sheets to the Payment table. You may pay with cash or check. Please bring different bill denominations. We will have some bills to make change. \nPLEASE PLEASE PLEASE what does not sell you must take back home with you. There is no place for us to store anything.

SUMMARY:CRQC Meeting March 2023
DESCRIPTION:Our presenter is Kathy J. Gaul.  At her Colorado-based company\, Gaul designs\, stitches\, publishes\, and markets a line of wool appliqué art patterns\, now numbering more than 50. Her patterns\, which often reflect a New England flavor\, use the same felted wool fabric and embroidery stitches as those found in 19th-Century rugs. She focuses on stitching detail and dimensional manipulation of wool to create realism in her art. The company also produces a small line of rug-hooking canvases and punch-needle patterns from her designs. \nOur meeting is on Tuesday March 7\, 2023 at 6 pm at the New Hope Church.  The presentation will start at 6 pm.  Following our presentation there will be a short break and then the business part of the meeting.  Please wear your name tags.  Please bring your show and tell.

DESCRIPTION:Our February speaker is Nina Clotfelter who will be presenting virtually her program “Threads – What’s the Big Deal?”  This is a FUN lecture on all the things you didn’t know you needed to know about thread!  As an educator for WonderFil Specialty Threads\, Nina has learned a lot and she wants to share.  In this lecture you’ll learn about the different weights of thread and why they make a difference; why ply is important; specialty threads like metallic\, monofilament\, tinsel threads\, how to work with them and why metallics give us issues.\n\nPlease join us as this should be a great presentation.  This will be a zoom meeting and an in-person meeting. All zoom information will be sent to you prior to the meeting.  Meeting starts at 6:00 pm.  If you are attending the meeting\, please wear your name tag.  This zoom meeting is being run by the presenter therefore the business portion of the meeting and show and tell will not be presented via zoom.  Bring your show and tell.
