SUMMARY:January's Nickel Quilts
DESCRIPTION:We started the New Year (by Zoom) with a million dollar idea from Pat Speth of Nickel Quilts. Stop merely collecting those 5-inch charms\, and start using them to make incredible quilts! Pat showed us how to make various cuts to four patches and half-square triangles and then rearrange them into designs from her patterns and books. So. Much. Fun. (This works with layer cakes\, too.) If you missed the meeting\, you can still read about Pat and see her patterns at patspeth.com. While not all of her nickel quilt books are still being published\, many can be found secondhand.

Bring extras for ones who forget or guests. \nFYI: The April Block Lotto will be a Patriotic theme so you can possibly use these 10” pieces for the new block. \nPer the new Policies and Procedures\, we will be establishing the Nominating Committee tonight. We need a minimum of three (and possibly 5) members for this committee. The nominating committee meets\, determines candidates\, and presents a slate of candidates at the July meeting. The slate is voted on at the August general meeting. If you are interested\, please self-nominate. It would be great if members who have held offices that are up for election (this year it’s President\, Program Director/VP\, and Membership) would serve on the committee so they can answer questions about the office.

Tyson Newhouse is back as our live auctioneer\, guaranteed to level up this exciting event! \nAnyone is welcome to attend and bid on items! There is no fee for visitor attendance this month. Please note that ONLY CASH OR CHECK will be accepted as payment for purchases. (No credit cards or online payments like Paypal or Venmo.) You will keep track of your wins and prepare your check (or cash\, round up to avoid needing change) so we can keep the check out moving smoothly. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to expand your stash! \nTo CRQC Members:\nStart cleaning out your quilt rooms\, closets and crafty corners — wherever it is that you stash your stash. Decide what you want to donate for our annual fundraiser; then download and print a bid sheet for each donation or bundle. You do NOT need to list a starting bid — just a description of what you are donating. If donating fabric yardage\, please list amount.
