The days are getting shorter and cooler and the time is perfect for quilting! We now have instructions for three blocks posted, and anyone can still join in the fun. It will be a beautiful finished quilt and everything is posted from last month too.
Our October meeting was very informative with insights on what judges look for and encouragement to enter local quilt shows and challenges. It’s an educational experience.
I hope everyone will come next month for a new type of meeting. We will view the award winning documentary movie, Stitched! We are able to use the library’s projector and screen so it will be easy to view. I think it will be fun, and am looking forward to it. You can get a preview of the movie at http://www.stitchedfilm.com/home.html. Remember to contact us with any questions or requests. This is your club!
Happy Stitching, Gail
Last month’s meeting Highlights
v CRQC’s library was slimmed down by Judith and Debbie, and the selection was made available for loan to our members. The books pulled from the collection will be brought to the December meeting to be selected or perhaps won by attending members.
v There was a vote by members about the Christmas meeting in regard to exchange gifts or not. The highest votes were in favor of a $15.00 gift exchange. Those not wanting to participate, may choose not to, but please come.
v The majority of people participating in the Block of the Month, want to make the larger version with the extra blocks, so we will be giving out 2 new BOM each month! Anyone who wants to take it at just one block per months should take the info for both blocks each month and just make them at their own pace.
v There was a nice presentation of blocks brought in from the 1st month to share. You can see the block on the front page of our website www.crqc.org. The instructions for all of the blocks can be found at CRQC’s website and tab bom and challengers/bom patterns. Check it out!
v A big thanks for those delicious October goodies go out to MaryBeth Burns, Willow Kaufman and Patricia Maddaford.
Next month’s meeting- November: Stitched
This is not your grandmother's quilting film.
We will watch the documentary Stitched. Join us November 14 to watch a fun filled documentary that follows 3 quilters racing to complete their entries for the International Quilt Festival in Houston, the largest quilt show in the nation. The show drew more than 60,000 quilters in 2010.
In this 72-minute documentary we will watch these three quilters crate their pieces to compete. Also, see quilt “rock-stars” including Ricky Tims.
