  Block of the Month

The Block Of The Month program for 2011-2012 is one in which you will certainly want to participate. The end result will be a stunning quilt with a variety of different stars. Some blocks are small and some are large and there will be plenty of room for you to individualize it in the way you arrange and personalize your blocks.

This will be a great project for experienced and newer quilters alike. There will be instructions on how to get crisp points and help with any aspect of making your blocks fantastic.

You know we take pride in making our Charity Quilt projects special. So we will be using the same blocks for our BOM that we are using in the Charity Quilt.

You can choose any color combinations you like for your own projects. Each block requires two different fabrics. You can make the entire project in the same fabrics or you can get creative and have a variety of colors for the different blocks by using your stash. Make it your own individual design.

No matter what you decide for your quilt, we have some great motivation for participation. I’ll explain later.

Each month we will give out instructions at the meeting and patterns will be available here on the web site.

Make two blocks each month. Keep one for yourself, and bring one in to the next meeting. We will display all the blocks brought each month for us to admire and then we will give them all away! Depending on how many blocks we get, we may give them all to one person or split it into 2 or maybe even 3 groups and draw names for the give away. If your name is drawn you will leave with blocks in a variety of colors (or maybe not so many colors, depending on what folks pick for themselves). Finish your blocks the way you want to make a great lap quilt for your home, for a gift, or to donate to one of the many charity groups in our area.

Now for the more competitive souls, we will have prize for the following categories.. Most Creative, Best Use of Color and Best Workmanship (translate into great points!). Some fantastic prizes have been selected.
Everyone is a winner. You will get a beautiful finished project at the end of the year, the possibility of a second quilt from the monthly give-away, and the final prizes too!

Check back here or click on the BOM Patterns for updates and the latest monthly patterns.

Ok folks! Have fun and be sure to contact Connie, artandcon@msn.com, or Pat, patmaddaford@gmail.com  if you have any questions at all!
