Dec 2008: Merry Christmas - have fun!
Nov 2008:"Stay Centered" To sew borders to the sides of your quilt, find the center of each edge and place a pin at each of those points. Fold each of your border strips in half and mark those center points with pins. Measure out in both directions from the center pin on each border strip and put a pin at the correct distance for the end point of your quilt. Pin the border strip to one edge of your quilt., matching center pins and end points and spacing pins evenly between them. QNM Editors from Quiltmaking Tips and Techniques Rodale Press, Inc.
Oct 2008:"Get a Grip with Rubber Cement" All my templates have rubber cement on the back, to stop them from slipping on the fabric. Just coat the entire back surface of each template you make and let the glue dry. The rubbery coating will make the template stay firmly in place on the fabric while you mark or cut around it. It won't discolor or harm the fabric in any way, and you can peel it off and put a new coating on your template whenever you like. But don't put rubber cement on the back of a ruler, because it can take off the ink. John Flynn from Quiltmaking Tips and Techniques Rodale Press, Inc.
Sep 2008: "Oh, What a Tangled Web" When you thread your needle for hand piecing, it's a good idea to knot the end of the thread that you cut, or the end closest to the spool. That will keep your thread from tangling and twisting as much while you sew each seam. QNM Editors from Quiltmaking Tips and Techniques Rodale Press, Inc.
