Castle Rock Quilt Club
JUNE 2009

Is anybody else tired of this “ify” weather??? I am definitely ready for summer! They keep saying on TV that this is “Spring in the Rockies” and since this is only my third spring here I’m not sure if this is the “norm” or not. Anyway, I’m ready to sit on the patio and read, play cards, do some hand
quilting or just relax.

I really enjoyed the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum trunk show at this past meeting. Seeing all the old quilts reminds us of where our love of quilting comes from. It inspires me that so many of these past quilters did everything by hand with very few of the modern day “gadgets” that we have at our use. It’s hard to imagine all the cutting with scissors, tracing of templates and measuring that they had to do versus our rotary cutters, pre-cut templates, cutting mats and “fancy” rulers that we use. More or less we have it made in comparison.

So….did any of you go and take advantage of the Better Homes and Garden quilting magazine special??? It was 24 issues for $24!!! Andddd….the deal is still on! You can find it at: http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/ I have noticed that magazines seem to have some wonderful sales going on and I’m sure it’s due to the economy. All the better for us.

On June
2 we have Diane Harris coming from Quiltmaker
Magazine.
She will be showing us how a magazine is produced and she will give a trunk show
from the magazine’s collection!!!
Don’t
you just love seeing pretty and unique quilts?!
Just a
reminder that Sew-Ciety is helping our environment and offering a sale by
purchasing one of their shopping bags for $3 and everything you can put in the
bag will be 15% off!!! What a deal!

Well..I’ve
found another interesting web site that some of you may or may not know about.
It is:
http://www.coloradoquiltcouncil.com/ this site will tell you all the
Colorado events that are coming up as well as lots of other useful information.
